About Wave Loft Surf School
How we teach
We keep groups small and build from the sand up — every session starts with a dry-land briefing on safety, paddling and the pop-up before you ever touch the water. Our coaches stay in the white-water with you, giving short, specific cues after each wave so progress feels fast and never overwhelming. The goal is simple: stand up, ride safely, and want to come back.

Safety & insurance
Safety comes first on every session. All our instructors hold current First Aid and CPR certifications, group lessons run at a maximum of six students to one coach, and we match every group to a spot and conditions appropriate for their level. Soft-top boards, leashes and wetsuits are included and checked before every session, and we always carry rescue equipment and a first-aid kit to the beach.

Meeting point
Our surf house and meeting point is a two-minute walk from Praia do Sul, on Rua dos Navegantes. Look for the timber-clad building with the longboards out front — there's parking, hot showers and a café next door.

We run a handful of surf houses in the places we love to surf, from Ericeira to Arugam Bay. Each house has its own local crew who cook, guide and know the breaks, so wherever you land it feels like staying with friends who happen to surf every day.

Cancellation
You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your lesson start time.
Weather & swell
Surf depends on the ocean, so if conditions turn flat or unsafe we will always reschedule you to the next workable tide or offer a full refund — you are never charged for a lesson we cannot safely run.
What's provided
Most lessons include a board and wetsuit, see each lesson for exactly what's provided.
Fitness & effort
Moderate effort. Expect paddling and pop-ups, you'll work for it, but no experience or special fitness is needed.
Swimming
You need to be able to swim to join a lesson: confident in open water, not just a pool.
Minimum age
Suitable for ages 8+. Younger surfers are welcome with a parent or guardian present, message the school first.
Before you arrive
Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and water, and arrive 15 minutes early to get fitted.
